The pawns always go first. I see a whole bunch of you vanilla lowest common denominator types down there trying to hack stuff. You usually fail. Staying back as a sniper is not cowardice. It's how a sniper does his job. Look up the art of sniping on the internet. Deployable shields sounds like a quick fix CCP is giving you whiners down below. |

Deployable shields sounds like a quick fix CCP is giving you whiners down below. If I'm hacking, and snipers don't have my back, part of me really wants to say that you aren't doing your job. I just don't see how you all think that you are that effective when there are 4 of you doing a awfully terrible job and stealing eachothers kills sitting on a hill that only lets you see like one and a half of the least popular objectives on a map. Also, as an Amarr Logibro it's really hard for that namecalling to stick to me.
I don't know about other snipers but I'm moving around to get a good shot. I usually am shooting at ppl that are trying to hack, moving back in from their redline etc. I've single handedly held down a position when the assaults couldn't do **** to cap and hold it.
When I have to be far up on the redline like some maps force me to be (i.e. Ashland map) I have to shoot an enemy more than once from such distance to kill them. They usually move before a kill. However, I notice that I am the only person who ever shot them at all. No assault finished them off because they couldn't break through their defenses.
Apparently, I should be one more assault so that we could win the game. I doubt I'm that good but I'll accept the implication that I'm so leet that I should run assault.
No, I did more as a sniper in the above senario than all those assault guys. The assault guys couldn't follow through and finish the easy job I just threw in their lap.
Anyway, call the guy in this video a coward. I'm sure he wouldn't understand the reference considering he's using the weapon the way it is supposed to be used.

Trying to portray yourself as an elite sniper? Looking down at all the little 'pawns' running around the field? Maybe you do support your team but from your perch I'm inclined to think you are one of the worthless ones. I have a fit with prototype sniper rifle that I use about 1 in 3 matches. It can also engage at close range. Once I've picked off the red snipers and forge gunners I'm down in the trenches hacking and killing with my team.
Sounds like me.
SMG trained up is wonderful. With that as my main weapon I can go AV, mass driver et al. Also, running two SMG while sneaking around for hacks is also fun.
I usually move around to get a good position to be effective. Some days are better than others but I know my role.
Your inclination is uninformedGǪ and I didn't say elite. My arguement still stands though. Assaults are just about as useless considering they're the ones that are supposed to be hacking and apparently according to the "snipers are useless" mentality are supposed to be getting the kills more effectively. That doesn't usually happen. I've had to hold down positions because assaults suck. My being down there wouldn't have made as much of a difference. |

I am by no way equating Dust snipers with RL military/special forces Snipers. Maybe this is the problem. Do you snipers really think you are somehow especially badass like this guy or something?
No, we are players who see the usefulness of the role instead of criticizing it for being useless because we don't prefer it. You seem to want everybody to just run vanilla assault. I can attest that that role is just as useless if it doesn't get support. I don't know where you are anybody gets the idea that we are thinking we are badass. You and other anti-sniper players are reading into things.
I'm talking usefulness with the role. A player that is not doing very well in his role is useless. That includes assaults and logis. |
